Which DevOps certifications are worth it
Choose Kubernetes, Terraform or cloud certification based on the role, syllabus and practice you need, without assuming a guaranteed hiring or salary return.

What a certification can establish
A certificate shows that you met the issuer's assessment requirements. It can satisfy a stated job or client requirement, but it does not guarantee a callback, production competence or a higher salary.
Before paying, inspect the role requirements and official syllabus. Ask about reimbursement and the time available to practise. Course completion and an independently assessed certification are different evidence.
Match the exam to the role
CKA is a performance-based Kubernetes administration exam with command-line tasks. It is a relevant option when the target work includes Kubernetes operations. Passing a bounded exam does not prove readiness to handle every production incident.
Terraform Associate assesses foundational Terraform knowledge. Compare its current objectives with what you need to learn; HashiCorp also lists a professional certification, so do not assume every Terraform credential has the same format or depth.
AWS Solutions Architect Associate focuses on designing solutions on AWS. Azure Administrator Associate targets Azure administration. They are not interchangeable syllabuses; select the one aligned with the work and provider you are targeting.
Avoid collecting badges without a purpose
Check an unfamiliar course or certificate for a public syllabus, practical work and a credible assessment. Decide what evidence it adds to your application. There is no basis here for claiming that every training-provider certificate harms a candidate.
A professional-level or second certification can be useful for a specific requirement. Compare the syllabus overlap and study cost before choosing it. More certificates do not automatically establish broader competence.
A practical sequence
If you are new to cloud operations, build a small service on your chosen provider and use its associate-level syllabus to identify gaps. Take CKA when Kubernetes is part of your target work; take Terraform Associate when infrastructure-as-code knowledge needs structure.
Between exams, keep evidence of a reviewed change, a failed deployment and a recovery exercise. Record the conditions under which you tested. Use the current official pages below for exam format, price and renewal rules before booking.
